A young-adult polar bear takes the initiative to explain things to the other cubs, earning trust and responsibility the right way.

Today’s topic is about the transfer of power. If you’re a successor, do you try to take power/leadership by showing initiative and pushing a little? Or do you wait patiently for your parents to decide that you’re ready? And if you’re a parent, what is likely to give your children the best results?

I’m using Niccolò Machiavelli’s The Prince for reference today, since it has one of the best pieces of advice on “power” I ever received.

This is an Action post, concrete advice and tips we provide only to our paid subscribers. If you’re not yet a paid subscriber, consider upgrading: this is the same advice we give our clients, so the paid subscription should be the best investment you make all year.

On Substack, your subscription price is guaranteed forever. In this “early launch” period, you’ll pay $48/year forever even though we’ll add much more value over time: Q&A sessions, live sessions, webinars, discounts, and other benefits.

But only 23 more people will get that rate: after that, the price will increase to $72/year and it will continue to increase over time. You won’t want to miss everything we’ll add to Family Business Is Better… why pay more if you don’t have to?

You can also subscribe for free! You’ll miss a lot of the benefits, but you’ll learn something wonderful every week from the Tuesday Insights posts.

Like all our posts, this one is also available in Spanish.

Now, as Machiavelli was telling us…
